Meet the Tracers.
When someone is as passionate about visual effects as Bhushan Thakur, it’s only a matter of time before you become our featured Tracer. Today’s that day.
Before we get into all the good things Bhushan brings to the table, let’s start at the beginning. Growing up in Mumbai, Bhushan loved to watch movies, play videogames and solve Rubik’s Cube. Considering his exceptional problem-solving skills, his love for Rubik’s Cube should come as no surprise.
Bhushan joined the Trace team nearly two years back as a roto artist. By working on a range of projects and developing his skills, Bhushan eventually became a senior roto artist. But he’s not done yet. Bhushan is eager to continue growing at Trace and excited for what the future holds.
Varun Parange, Head of Production at Trace, had the following to say about Bhushan’s work ethic: “Bhushan is an extremely talented artist. He works tirelessly to ensure our clients get the best quality and that their work is delivered on time. He has bright future at Trace.”
Looking back on his time at Trace, Bhushan said being named a featured Tracer was one of his most memorable moments. We couldn’t be more proud.
Trace turns two.
Wow. It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating our one-year anniversary. Now, we’re two! But don’t worry, we’re not all grown up. In fact, although our celebration was a few months back, we’re still recovering.
This epic event took place at Bungalow 9, a great restaurant and bar in the Bandra neighborhood of Mumbai. All in all, we had 100 people show up. The evening’s playlist consisted of a whole lotta Bollywood tunes. Needless to say, we danced up a storm.
Between epic dance moves, Managing Director Jon Mason had the following to say:
“This past year, we’ve tripled in size, expanded our expertise, and really increased our presence in the market. The annual party is a great way to set aside deadlines for a night and celebrate our accomplishments. It’s important to get everyone together to cut loose and throw a few back. Judging by the bar tab, I’d say we did just that.”
As a whole, we’re really proud of how far Trace has come and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Meet our newest producer.
Nisha Vijayan left MPC London a few months back to join the Trace team, but she’s already made an impact. We caught up with her to discuss her initial impressions of Trace, as well as her thoughts on the company’s bright future.
Welcome to the Trace family, Nisha!
Thank you! Great to be here.
How do you like working at Trace so far?
I like it. The project management team is a solid bunch who can be counted on to work really hard.
What are your day-to-day responsibilities?
My main task is taking care of clients, which includes interfacing with them on the projects, ensuring we can take on the work, and making sure all projects are delivered on time.
Internally, I look over the project management team, see where improvements can be made, and set up production practices where needed.
Where were you working before joining Trace?
My last job was at the Moving Picture Company in London. I spent the last two years working in their films department.
How is working at Trace different than some of your previous jobs?
It’s a smaller company, which I think I prefer. I like working with a smaller team, as you naturally feel more involved and have more responsibility. Also, since Trace is a young company, I liked the fact that I could take what I learned from working abroad and bring it into the way Trace’s production team functions.
How do you see Trace growing and developing over the next few years?
In the 2.5 months I’ve been here, one thing really stood out: Trace is so well loved by its clients. They keep coming back because they get great service and great end product. We’ve actually had to turn away work, as we were fully booked. To fill this demand, Trace is expanding. There have even been discussions to have a full time tracking team in-house – which is great. Trace is only going to get bigger.
Meet the Tracers.
This month’s featured Tracer, Makarand Patel, spends his days making sure our work is of the highest quality.
Makarand grew up in Kankavli, which sits within the Indian state of Maharashtra. There, he loved watching Bollywood movies, listening to Bollywood tunes, and enjoying a range of Hindi TV shows, including Dance India Dance. But his older brother, who worked at a VFX company in Mumbai, was the spark that kindled his interest in visual effects.
In March of 2012, Makarand followed in his brother’s footsteps by joining the Trace family. As QC, Makarand’s keen eye for detail ensures Trace’s work meets our high standards and is ready for action. Trace’s Executive Producer, Matt Herman, agrees. “Makarand has been an amazing performer and always rises to the occasion.”
Aside from his responsibilities as QC, Makarand really enjoys table tennis and is looking forward to showing off his skills at the office.
We’ll be back next month to spotlight another Tracer.
