Dragons, bastards and horselords

Dragons, bastards and horselords

So let’s face it, HBO’s Game of Thrones kinda rocks, right? Honesty, with dragons, bastards, and horselords, what’s there not to love? So when we were approached to work on the trailer for the upcoming second season, we couldn’t resist.

With 3 days to air, HBO realized that they overlooked a big 21st century highway running through the most critical shot. With a tight deadline and a tighter budget, we were contacted to turn the stretch of asphalt into a snowy medieval path. The shot required a lot of roto and talented compositors to seamlessly layer the path into the scene. Working with artists in New York and Mumbai, Trace was able to work on a 24-hour schedule to deliver the final comp in just 2 days. HBO was thrilled with the final product and so were we. Check it out below.

Great projects with great clients.

It’s been a busy few months for us at Trace VFX. We’ve had lots of great jobs with great clients, the way life should be.

Since our launch we have grown rapidly and attracted the attention of some of the top VFX shops in the world. Unlike other outsourcers, we don’t divulge our client list, but it includes companies who have won Clios, Lions and Academy Awards. We don’t publicize the work we do with you. We know that you’re the belle of the ball; we’re just here to help.

If you’re looking to work with a partner who consistently delivers excellent work on time and on budget, just drop us a line and we’ll show you why the best VFX companies work with us.

Trace finishes its first commercial.

If you’re anything like me, you teared up during the Miracle on 22nd Street piece featured on NYTimes.com this past holiday season. The folks over at Redglass Pictures are the minds behind this incredible piece as well as plenty of other viral videos picked up by sites including Gawker, Huffington Post, Gothamist and New York Magazine to name a few. I think it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway; we were pretty pumped when they approached us to do some work on their new commercial project.

We hooked up with Redglass to do some finishing effects for Friendthem, a new social media app that uses geolocation to locate the Facebook profiles of people around you. They had a tight deadline and needed some high quality finishing work on their spot, stat. Working between New York and Mumbai we worked round the clock. Redglass delivered footage at night and we delivered final comps in the morning, helping them deliver the spot on time and on budget. Check it out below!
