The latest on Trace.
Long time, no speak! These past few months have been crazy for the Trace crew, so allow us a second to catch our breath.
Ahhh yes, there it is. Anyway, we want to start by telling you about our 1-year anniversary party, which was held back in May. It’s hard to believe it’s been over a year since we first opened our doors. But it was even harder to believe some of the incredible dance moves we witnessed at the party. When you’ve got an open bar and a DJ blasting all the Hindi hits, I guess you can’t be too surprised. All in all, we had a blast, and are already planning the playlist for our 2-year anniversary.
Since our last blog post, we’ve had the opportunity to work on hundreds of great projects – everything from major TV and film ventures to recognizable commercials. To make it all happen, we bolstered our staff up to 50 full-time employees and expanded our services to include camera tracking, matchmove and modeling.
Oh, here’s a little teaser. In a few months, Trace will be opening a new office right in the heart of Mumbai. Stay tuned for more info on that. And lastly, we’ll be posting on our blog twice a month, every month. So do check back for all the latest on Trace.
Trace finishes its first commercial.
If you’re anything like me, you teared up during the Miracle on 22nd Street piece featured on NYTimes.com this past holiday season. The folks over at Redglass Pictures are the minds behind this incredible piece as well as plenty of other viral videos picked up by sites including Gawker, Huffington Post, Gothamist and New York Magazine to name a few. I think it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway; we were pretty pumped when they approached us to do some work on their new commercial project.
We hooked up with Redglass to do some finishing effects for Friendthem, a new social media app that uses geolocation to locate the Facebook profiles of people around you. They had a tight deadline and needed some high quality finishing work on their spot, stat. Working between New York and Mumbai we worked round the clock. Redglass delivered footage at night and we delivered final comps in the morning, helping them deliver the spot on time and on budget. Check it out below!
Open for business!
After a long build out, and over 1,200 applicants, Trace is officially open for business. Our staff includes an amazing team of roto artists, compositors and lead artists which means we can do basic work including roto, paint, keying etc, but we can also do more complex comps. Contact us for a free trial and we’ll be happy to show you what we can do.
